MOVED WITH COMPASSION

A simple reading of the Gospels will reveal that they place a tremendous emphasis on the compassion of Jesus. His compassion came before and was of greater significance than the power with which He healed the sick and taught the people. The power that we see manifest in the teaching and the healing of the sick came to the people through His compassion. Believers are united to Jesus by the Spirit and are the means by which He is moved with compassion in the world today. The great problem is in not knowing the difference between the natural compassion of the flesh and the compassion of Jesus worked in us by the Spirit. Natural flesh love is capable of destroying the one it seeks to love and leaves the one who thus loves in a state of darkness and confusion.
